1992 Vivienne Westwood Boulle Leotard

Rare and collectible Vivienne Westwood 'Boulle' leotard from her 1991 collaboration with the Sock Shop. The Boulle prints were featured in Westwood's 1990 "Portrait Collection" runway show. The leotard is a lovely navy color and is sheer. The print has a 3 dimensional flocked texture. The leotard is super stretchy and formfitting.
This now iconic print is based on French Rococo Boulle furniture which was made by the process of inlaying tortoiseshell and metal into wood, a lost to time technique. Westwood used the relief of these Rococo furniture designs. There is some elastic pulling under the armpits -- more so on the right side (see last image). This is barely noticeable when worn.
