Early 19th C. Mobcap

Rare and beautiful mobcap from the early to mid 1800s. It is made of a lightweight and sheer gridded cotton. It features dramatic ruffles down the center of the head, and framing ruffles around the face and neck. It also has a tie closure at the neck. It is delicate, but still wearable with care. You can see that it has been repaired a few times from looking at the inside. It is a miracle such an item has lasted this long!
