Antique 19th century traditional Dutch homemade top made of linen and wool, which has a beautiful high glazed treatment, giving it a glossy sheen. Lined in a cotton calico. The top is somewhat patch-worked, perhaps reworked multiple times to fit the wearer from a young age as she matured, or remade from other garments using what material was available. It also has attached heavy bumrolls at the back-- which would be traditionally hidden under the waist of a skirt.

A beautiful piece of wearable heritage and women's material culture. Stunning and curious details. In strong and wearable condition.
