Antique Ecru Net Dickie Chemisette

$120

Lovely late 1800s-early 1900s dickie made from ecru net fabric and a sheer gridded cotton. It closes down the front with tiny pearl buttons and ties at the waist with drawstring.
These were worn under bodices and jackets of the day creating a layered illusion, for modesty. Excluding arms and waists was a practical way of heightening the ensemble, while not adding bulk to the silhouette, and additionally not wear out the delicate fabrics these used. Fabric is still strong and wearable.
