Antique Chintz French Apron

Stunning and rare Victorian or early 19th Century French apron. It's made in a Provencal chintz depicting garlands connecting circular scenes of floral bounty and spurting fountains, against a French blue dotted backdrop. It features a combination of machine and hand- sewing. The front has tight pin-tucks that lead into the drawstring waistband that functions as a pouch! The lower apron is done in the classic "French maid" circular style, giving it a coquettish allure. It ties with silk ribbons under the arms and at the waist. The fabric is in sturdy and wearable condition.
