1890s Velveteen Teal Bodice with Balloon Sleeves

Late Victorian bodice in a unique teal silk velveteen fabric with large grey polka dot pattern, from an Italian maker. It features the large balloon sleeves characteristic of the mid 1890s. It has a blousy pigeoned silhouette with a belted waist and interior chemisette with mother of pearl buttons. It has soutache embellishment and gradient striped silk ribbon decorating the sleeves. It has some age related discoloration and the tissue silk underneath the soutache embellishment has disintegrated, but the rest of the fabric is sturdy and wearable.
