1890s Evening Bodice for Dress

Very lovely example of late Victorian formalwear in truly fabulous condition, a silk bodice with velvet corseted waist in pink and baby blue. It is lined in a sturdy cotton twill. The frontage has fabulous sculptural ruching on the bodice, and features typical of the period, balloon sleeves in matching baby blue chiffon. The sleeves and waist are trimmed in silk georgette with intricate embroidery giving the appearance of lace. It is rare to see such a fine example of evening wear in such sturdy and wearable condition.
