1890-1900 Antique Mutton Sleeve Pinafore Workdress

Late 1890s- early 1900s lightweight plaid wool challis and cotton work dress with pouffy leg o' mutton slashed Juliet sleeves-- because of the pinafore style it almost appears a two piece ensemble. It has all its original hook and eye closures, and a sash belt fastens at the back. The outer plaid fabric has some wear, fading, and discoloration, but overall is in strong, wearable condition. The inner cotton lining of the bodice is fragile, (patched and reinforced in places). Its flaws only add to its beautiful character. It is an innovative and stylish dress, a wearable artifact of the working woman at the turn of the century!
