1800s French Handmade Socks

Antique cotton hand knit socks with beautiful pointelle details from 1800s France. They were knit with curved seams at the back, fitting the calf of the leg beautifully, with loops that would have attached to garters. The socks both have cross stitched initials "JB". They have been lovingly kept with intricate, skillful darning on the heels. The socks are both in excellent condition, strong and wearable. There is no dirt or stains.
